Despite what most people think at first glance, Angel Dust is a surprisingly complex individual. He presents himself as a sarcastic, promiscuous, and sassy person, and uses his comical attitude to mask his inner turmoil. He is very eager to keep up his image as a gangster and sex addict, and has little qualms about being reckless at others’ expense. While he can often appear callous, in reality, he genuinely dislikes what he does, although he refused to admit it at first and attempted to cloud his unfortunate circumstances with drugs and sex. However, any fun he could have gained from vice and rampant sexuality was slowly sucked away by how it was all tied to his job and his abusive pimp, Valentino. Although he initially acted as if he had no desire for redemption and claimed he only joined the Happy Hotel for free housing and food, over time he genuinely grew to want to change himself, although he has his doubts that redemption is really possible. Due to his refusal to let people see this more sensitive side of him, he is preemptively defensive and hides much of his true, more sensitive self for his own protection, and does not expect those around him to show him kindness, as shown when he was genuinely surprised when Charlie gave him money after he agreed to take part in the Happy Hotel. Later, when Charlie attempted to comfort him when she noticed he was upset, he responded by smacking the princess’ hand away, sneering at her, and flipping her off while leaving. Angel Dust is shown to be a prankster, switching between playful and destructive as he wishes. He does not care too much for responsibility and would much rather engage in a turf war or sexual activities than clean up a mess he caused. He is very flirtatious and tends to sweet-talk any man he sees, as shown by his advances on Husk, Alastor, and Fergus. Notably, Angel possesses a very crude, erotic, and crass sense of humor, with an emphasis on dirty jokes and sexual innuendos. He has a habit of regularly insulting people for the sheer sake of it, regardless of whether or not they provoked him. He is also not above using sexist and/or racist humor solely to piss others off and amuse himself, as shown by him telling
Angel Dust possesses a strong sense of narcissism, as he frequently refers to the denizens of Hell as ugly freaks, says his body is perfect, and loves commenting on his “pretty face”. He is very concerned and careful with his appearance, often taking hours to apply his makeup and pamper his fluff to “perfect” his appearance. He makes himself out to be the most important person in the room, often acting needy towards others and giving them complex requests. He is also a bit of a neat freak in that he hates dirt and , as they are difficult to get out of his clothing and fluff, and he is careful to not dirty himself by getting on him while engaging in crime. Angel is also very concerned and prideful about maintaining his reputation, not wanting word to get around that he would sell his “services” to random people behind Valentino’s back to survive, or appear that he’s trying to “go clean” by being seen at the Happy Hotel.
Beneath his vexatious and licentious exterior, Angel Dust is more than capable of being a caring person who is very loyal and protective of the people he is close to. He is extremely loyal to and has a genuine friendship with Cherri Bomb, as shown when he refused to her on Valentino’s orders and even turned his machine gun on the moth demon in retaliation. He also instinctively pushed her out of the way when an Egg Boi was about to shoot her with a gun. After some time, he grew to be genuinely loyal to Charlie, appreciating her being the only person who thinks he can reform himself. When Valentino almost ed Charlie during the hotel crew’s confrontation with the VVV Overlords in Butcher Town, Angel shoved the princess out of Valentino’s crosshairs, resulting in him taking the bullet in his leg, gravely injuring himself to save her. In Purgatory, he convinced the demoralized hotel crew to rescue Charlie when she was taken by Lucifer and Satan. Even as a gangster and criminal, Angel has a moral code, as he objects to ing innocent people, as implied by Vox calling Angel a “pussy”, in reference to an off-screen event where Angel spared a defenseless woman while carrying out one of Valentino’s crimes. Furthermore, he loved his pet pig, Fat Nuggets, so much so that he considered Nuggets to be one of the only things that kept him going in Hell. He even went as far as to and interrogate one of Valentino’s men to get information on where Fat Nuggets was after the moth demon took the pig. When Fat Nuggets was ed by Valentino, Angel Dust become very depressed and despondent, to the point of attempting suicide, although he did more or less recover from this.
Angel is a humanoid, bipedal spider demon with a pencil-thin build. He stands at around 7 feet tall naturally, and is around 8 feet with his heels on. He is covered in fluffy, white fur and has pink spots throughout his fluff, with the three spots under his eyes being smaller eyes. Angel Dust has a distinctive, swooping hairstyle that always maintains its shape regardless of which angle he is viewed from. It is never seen straight even when he is facing forward, and merely flips to whichever direction Angel is facing whenever he turns. He wears eye shadow and eyeliner, both of his irises are pink, and his left eye has a dark sclera and no pupil, possibly as a result of being injured in a fight, or at the hands of Valentino. Angel previously possessed a single golden fang among his sharp teeth, a trait he shared with his boss, Valentino, but tore the gold tooth from his mouth after renouncing the moth demon.
